Frankfurter Berg
VGF is currently planning the overground extension of the U5 underground line from Preungesheim to Frankfurter Berg. The aim of this project is to open up the Frankfurter Berg district and the Edwards Gardens urban development area to local public transport on rails. On top of this, the link from the S-Bahn line S6 and the U5 to Frankfurter Berg station will create improved route-changing options, thus enhancing the attraction of public transport and improving the service for our passengers.
The extension is linked to the U5’s future as an underground line, which depends in turn on the conversion of the Musterschule and Glauburgstraße stations. The detailed planning for these stations is currently under way, after an architects’ competition in late summer 2010 threw up two designs that were awarded joint first place.
